LITERACY PROGRAMME

At Remuera Discovery Express we run a phonics based literacy programme to provide children with a formal introduction to literacy before they start school.  All children are exposed to literacy and numeracy throughout their time at our centre.  This is done through songs, games and a wide range of activities.  However, we also provide a formal, more structured programme where the letters, their sounds and how they are formed is introduced. 

We have a specific programme that all our 4 year olds are invited to come to.  Each child will learn at their own pace and we make this process fun and exciting.  This is a more structured time where we encourage children to concentrate and focus for longer periods of time in preparation for attending big boys or big girls school.
